Eating vegan at Sweetgreen is doable. We scanned the menu, checked every ingredient list for dairy, eggs, and meat, and built the exact order script for each of the 5 options below. No guessing, no mystery sauces.
Sweetgreen was built for this. The chain publishes ingredient lists down to the dressing component, marks vegan items on the digital menu with a tag, and lets you customize any bowl into a vegan build with no friction. The roasted tofu is vegan, the spicy cashew is vegan, the falafel is vegan, and almost every grain base is vegan unless you go out of your way to add yogurt-based dressing. Sweetgreen is the closest thing to a chain that operates with vegan default behavior.
What to watch forThe dressings are where it gets technical. The green goddess is dairy; the miso-sesame ginger is vegan; the lime cilantro jalapeno is vegan; the spicy cashew is vegan. The Caesar dressing contains anchovy and dairy. Goat cheese, parmesan, and feta are obvious adds-to-avoid; less obvious is that some seasonal bowls drop ranch or buttermilk by default and you have to subtract them in the build screen. Sweetgreen also runs limited-time bowls that occasionally use honey-based glaze on roasted vegetables (carrot harissa was one example) - the in-app ingredient view always lists it.
How we verifiedThe Sweetgreen menu changes seasonally, sometimes monthly. The scan reads the current in-store digital menu plus the published ingredient breakdowns and recomputes confidence per bowl on every refresh. Items that have been on the menu more than 12 months and have stable ingredient lists carry the highest confidence score and an order script that has been verified against multiple kitchens. New limited-run bowls carry a reduced score until we have verified a single full ingredient pass against the kitchen reality, after which they graduate into the high-confidence bucket alongside the year-rounder items.

Be specific with swaps. Call out the exact items to leave off (cheese, sour cream, butter). Ask the server to repeat the order back so the kitchen gets it right the first time. If you have a severe allergy rather than a dietary preference, always double-check directly with the restaurant.
The order scripts above already handle the common swaps for each item.
