Terms of Service

By using veganrecon.com (the Service), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service. We may update these terms; the Last updated date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision, and material changes will be communicated to signed-in users by email.

Vegan Recon is operated by True North Technology, a Michigan sole proprietorship. The Service reads publicly accessible restaurant menu URLs, generates suggestions for vegan-friendly items, and presents the result with a confidence score and order-script wording. The Service is offered free of charge for a limited number of scans per month, with an optional paid Upgrade tier for unlimited scans.

You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial dietary research and for editorial coverage. You may not: scrape the Service's API outside of normal browser use, attempt to overwhelm or rate-abuse the system, resell the Service's output as a paid product, attempt to reverse-engineer the scan pipeline beyond what is plainly visible in the front-end code, or use the Service to harass any individual, restaurant, or business.

This is the most important section of this document. Vegan Recon's output is generated by automated systems (web scrapers and large language models) and is provided on an as-is basis. The output is not verified by a human at the time of generation. The Service surfaces a confidence score and a check-before-you-order section per item to help you evaluate the suggestion, but the canonical authority on what is in any given dish is always the restaurant itself, not Vegan Recon.

You agree to confirm dietary fit with the restaurant's staff before consuming any item, and you agree that Vegan Recon is not liable for the consequences of acting on the output without that confirmation.

Vegan Recon is a vegan-eating tool, not a medical-allergen reference. Where the underlying restaurant publishes allergen data, we surface it; where the restaurant does not, we mark the gap as a check-before-you-order item. If you have a clinically diagnosed food allergy, the canonical source is always the restaurant's own allergen sheet plus a direct conversation with the kitchen, and you agree that you will not rely solely on Vegan Recon's output for allergy-related decisions.

Account creation and authentication are handled by Clerk on our behalf. You are responsible for the security of your login credentials and for any activity on your account. You may close your account at any time by emailing the contact address listed in section 12; we will remove your account and any saved items within 30 days of receiving the request. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates section 3 (Acceptable Use).

Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge the payment method on file at the cadence shown on the checkout page. You may cancel a subscription at any time from your account settings or by emailing the address in section 12. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; refunds for the unused portion of a current period are issued on request within 14 days of the most recent charge, at our sole discretion. We do not issue refunds older than 14 days.

The Vegan Recon name, logo, and brand assets are the property of True North Technology. The press kit at /press authorizes limited use of the brand assets for editorial coverage; any other commercial use requires written permission. The text of the editorial guides at /guides is original to Vegan Recon and may be quoted in part with attribution. Restaurant menus, dish names, and ingredient lists belong to their respective restaurants; Vegan Recon makes fair use of this information for the purpose of dietary research and does not claim ownership.

The Service is provided as-is and as-available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of output. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vegan Recon, True North Technology, and their owners and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to damages for adverse dietary reactions, loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption, regardless of the theory of liability. The aggregate liability for any direct damages, where required by law, is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Vegan Recon in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) USD 50.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
